The Summer term is the perfect time for a project based on gardens. We thought that it would be a brilliant way to share some of the things that our children like about their gardens at home, and the things that they see there. For those children who don’t have access to a garden, this project will be particularly beneficial, as we will be bringing a little bit of the joy of a garden into nursery for us all to share together.

Do you ever wonder why we put so much emphasis in the preschool years on teaching colours and shapes? Why is this so important for young children?
So, let’s start by stating the fact that our world is literally made up of colours and shapes. That is what we see all around us!
Now that we are back at nursery, we have decided to continue with this project for the rest of the Summer term. As we already have resources in place and it’s a very flexible project, our teachers can easily pick up where they left off and provide quality teaching around this theme. It allows for all aspects of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum to be included.
