Last term’s project about plants and trees was such a big hit with our children that we’ve decided to extend this further by looking at the different types of plant habitats at home and around the world, and the multitude of different plants and trees that we find there.
Children are naturally curious about the different types of vehicles that they see; how they move, what we transport in them and where we find them. This term we will be looking at the different types of transport that we find today, and also in days gone by, with loads of great opportunities to learn through play.
Learning about ourselves is a fundamental part of childhood development, especially as children start to ask questions about who they are and how they are the same, or different, from others.
The children were so excited about our fabulous new sensory garden which we planted last term that we’ve decided to base this term’s project on the plants and trees that grow around us.
There is so much for our children to explore in this project! It embraces language, costume, religions, travel, festivals, food, care for our world – the list is endless. This is a wonderful topic for celebrating the diversity of children but is also a theme for recognising the similarities we share with those who live around the world.
