Many of the children who attend with us go on to graduate to Rushcombe 1st School. The school provides opportunities for our children to become familiar with their reception class teachers who spend time with the school leavers in nursery, and we are often invited to Rushcombe events such as their Christmas carol service. We have a dress up box in nursery with the Rushcombe school uniform so our children become familiar with the clothes they will wear at big school.
We are, however, an independent nursery and also have excellent relationships with several of the other local primary schools that our children go on to attend.
Progressing to school:
At Children’s House we spend a lot of time getting our children ready for ‘Big School’. Life-skills such as washing hands, dressing, following instructions, sharing and looking after belongings all contribute to a smooth transition. If you want your child to graduate to Rushcombe the school suggest visiting in the Autumn of the preceding year.
We have a document with some tips for getting your child ready: I’m Ready For School Leaflet
We enjoy a harmonious relationship with Rushcombe School and for the benefit of all concerned we agree to abide by the simple and reasonable rules of the school as follows:
1)Parking and Access to Children’s House
Access must be on foot via the pedestrian gate from the main parent’s parking area.
FOR SAFETY REASONS ACCESS VIA THE STAFF ENTRANCE GATE IS NOT ALLOWED
Please be considerate by not parking across the driveways and accesses to private houses.
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES ARE PARENTS ALLOWED TO DRIVE IN THE STAFF ENTRANCE, IN THE STAFF CAR PARK OR DOWN THE STEEP DRIVE.

Dogs are not permitted onto the School campus at any time for hygiene and safety reasons.
Smoking is not permitted anywhere within the School grounds.
Rushcombe request that our children are not allowed to run or roll around the grassed areas as strict rules are imposed upon Rushcombe children in this respect. Children must be closely supervised at all times – please hold your child’s hand at all times.
5)Scooters and Bikes
Children are not permitted to ride scooters and bikes in the school grounds. Please dismount and push to ensure everyone’s safety.
We thank you for your co-operation in assisting us to maintain our respectful use of the School grounds. We must emphasize that abiding by these rules is a condition of attending The Children’s House.
